Meanwhile, India and Pakistan have already gained an understanding of shutdowns and military operations, Foreign Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Saturday, noting that India will continue its firm and uncompromising position against terrorism.
“India and Pakistan have learned about the understanding of fire and shutdowns in military operations today. India has always maintained a firm and uncompromising position in all forms and manifestations. It will continue to do so.”
The minister’s remarks were posted in India and Pakistan’s DGMOS agreed that both sides would cease all dismissals and military operations. Starting from 1700 hours of Indian Standard Time, all shooting and military operations on the land as well as in the air and in the ocean,” he said.
He added: “Today, both sides have provided instructions to make this understanding effective. The directors of the military operations will talk again on 1200 hours on May 12.”
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also confirmed the ceasefire.
“Pakistan and India have agreed to an immediate ceasefire. Pakistan has been working for peace and security in the region without undermining its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said in an article published on X.
India launched Operation Sindor on May 7 in response to the terrible terrorist attack in Pahargam on April 22, which claimed 26 lives.
India attacked nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jamu and Kashmir. Pakistan is trying to upgrade with a series of unprovoked artillery and drones to boost the ante.
