People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Mehbooba Mufti said on Thursday (April 17, 2025) that she was not surprised by the revelation of the former head of Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), who supported the abolition of Article 370 in his latest book on the President of the National Conference Farooq Abdullah “in private.”

“Durat’s revelation is nothing new to me. This father and son are two. [Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah] Go and meet them [Prime Minister Narendra Modi] August 3 [2019]. Farooq Sahib didn’t even attend the parliament [on August 5, 2019]. He stayed. So, it’s not surprising to me.

Article 370 granted special status to the former Jamu and Kashmir states, and the center was abolished by the center on August 5, 2019.

Ms. Mufti also claimed that in 2014, Omar Abdullah met with Amit Shah and the governments of Jamu and Kashmir were formed.

“It was too unconditional for him to tell Shah not to form a government with the PDP, but to attend a national meeting,” she claimed.

Mr. Durat’s book, titled “Chief Minister and Spy”scheduled to be released on April 18.

Ms. Mufti also claimed that from 2015 to 2018, one of the cornerstones of the PDP-BJP alliance was that Article 370 would not be touched.

“Over the past two years and 10 months, Article 370 has not been affected,” she said.

The PDP head also spoke about the WAQF (Amendment) Act and the “attack” of mosques and shrines, saying the graves were excavated for excuses because these were remnants of the Mughal Empire.

“The signs of the Mughal Empire are the Taj Mahal, the Red Fortress, Qutub Minar and Fatehpur Sikri, with millions of visitors each year.

“If you are looking for descendants of Mughals, they are not Muslims among us,” Mufti said.

Ms. Mufti said the Prime Minister said of the promotion of Pasmada Muslims: “I would like to ask Modiji, is breaking the 100-year-old mosque in Madhya Pradesh or the northern Muslims in Uttar Pradesh?” She also said that Muslims in the country should fight peacefully against the WAQF amendment.

“I ask my Muslims in India to fight against it [Waqf law] Peacefully…What happened to Mershidabad was not good. ” she said.

Ms Mufti said people believed Muslims were targeted at India.
