Exciting patriotic songs

Hyderabad: The exciting notes of patriotic songs echoed on Thursday on the appearance of the tanks in Hyderabad during a solidarity rally held by the state government. When melodies such as “Ae Mere Mere Watan Ke Logon, Zara Aankh Mein Bhar Lo Pani” are clearly moved, buzzing softly, and drawing inspiration from powerful lyrics that continue to produce a profound love for the motherland.
Patriotic songs have long played a key role in uniting people and promoting national spirit. Banjara Hills resident Bengali singer Krishna Mukerji noted that several Bengali songs, both before and after independence, stabilized the collective consciousness and mobilized the masses during the free movement. Later, the “Vande Mataram” written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay later evolved into “Vande Mataram”, becoming a rally call for a country that longed for independence.
“‘shanko chero, beubholota nejero apoman’ roughly means ‘indecision is self-wet’,” she explained. “Songs like this still awaken the fearless spirit and encourage people to represent the country.”
In Kerala, the struggle for freedom has received important participation from ordinary citizens, and literature and poetry have played a crucial role. Vallathol Narayana Menon, the famous Malayalam poet, wrote several patriotic poems that later became songs. “These songs, such as ‘Papamochanam’, have inspired generations to participate in the free movement,” said Dr. Jolly Puthussery, professor of folk culture studies at the University of Hyderabad. He also highlighted “Namute Marupati,” a song that addresses the barriers to India’s road to freedom. “These songs are still played during the National Festival and continue to inspire inspiration,” he added.
Telugu cinemas have produced eternal patriotic numbers. The songs of the 1971 film Alluri Seetarama Raju, written by P. Adinarayana Rao, continue to resonate with the audience. The song celebrates the heroism of a tribal youth who fearlessly resisted the British colonial power. Another popular track by Major Chandrakanth, the film, pays tribute to the sacrifice of the Freedom Fighter.
In Odisha, patriotic music also maintains a huge influence. Nampally resident Naushad Khan recalls that the song “Bande Utkala Janani” is still played at all major national events in the state. “This song is a must in any patriotic period,” he said, emphasizing its lasting emotional impact.
Commenting on the united power of music, poet and songwriter Gajala Srinivas, known for his compositions in the Telangana National Movement Movement, he said: “‘Jai Jai Jawan Jai Kisan’ deserves more than a thousand words. A song can cut castes, creeds and religions, bringing people and religions across the leap of religions and carrying this range. Citizens have shared pride and spirit of purpose.
