What did Ruturaj Gaikwad say on Devon Conway?

In his post-match speech, Gaikwad explained the decision to retire Devon Conway, saying management believes Jadeja can complete the situation more effectively.

“Well, you know, he’s more of a timer for the ball, very useful, but when you have Jaddu (Jadeja), his role is completely different, and he’s especially famous for this character. So when you know the batsman is struggling, you want that change to happen at some point,” Gaikwad said after the game.

“Initially, he was still batting. We waited and waited until we thought it was necessary and then we thought, yes, why not change it?” he added.

Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad talks about what went wrong with them

The Punjab Kings’ defeat marks CSK’s fourth straight defeat in the IPL 2025 season. In all five games, the team led by Gaikwad struggled in the field, dropping a few catches. Captain CSK identified it as a key factor in underperforming.

“We’re throwing the catch; the same hitter just adds 15, 20, 25, and sometimes 30 runs extra. It’s just making a difference. If you’re just missing the RCB game, I think the last three changes are just a matter of one or two or three hits,” Gaikwad said.

CSK is currently ranked ninth in the dot table, with only 2 points in five games.
