Experts shed light on the implications of postpartum care prenatal care in special Mother’s Day webinar

As Hindus The Wellness series, in partnership with Kauvery Hospital, held a webinar on May 10 to celebrate Mother’s Day entitled “Understanding Mothers and Postpartum Care”.
The conference included four expert doctors from Coffrey Hospital who shared valuable insights into the physical, emotional and psychological challenges facing new mothers.
Thenral K., clinical director and senior consultant at Radial Road Kauvery Hospital, talked about the importance of prenatal care. “Motherhood is one of the most profound and transformative journeys a woman can experience,” she said.
Dr. Thenral highlights the critical role of prenatal care in identifying potential complications early and ensuring timely medical interventions. She advocates a holistic, evidence-based approach to protecting maternal health while closely monitoring fetal development. She said proper nutrition and a balanced diet are essential for a healthy pregnancy and baby.
T. Siraj Fathima, an obstetrics and gynecologist at Tirunelveli Kauvery Hospital, is dedicated to labor and childbirth. She explains various delivery methods and introduces a comprehensive guide to labor care.
“Having a delivery partner, such as a spouse or mother, can greatly reduce anxiety during delivery,” she said.
Dr. Fathima also discussed the stages of labor and its typical duration, stressing that unintended complications may occur and that they must be managed with proper medical support.
Anitha, senior consultant for obstetrics and gynecology at Alwarpet Kauvery Hospital, focuses on postpartum care, defining postpartum as the first six weeks after delivery. She stressed the importance of a nutritious diet supporting body recovery during this period.
Dr. Anitha advised and raised awareness of postpartum depression and depression, urging families to identify symptoms as soon as possible and seek timely professional help.
Susan Mathen provides an overview of breastfeeding at Kauvery Hospital in Vadapalani, consultant, obstetrics, gynecology and IVF overview, describing the stages of breast milk – the first few days begin with colostrum, followed by transitional milk, followed by mature milk including and post-milk.
