Facing “double attack” of “double attack on inflation”, taxes rise: Congress

Congress alleged on Monday that people are facing a “double attack” of “rapid inflation” and rising taxes, and asked the Narendra Modi-Leed government to answer how ordinary people survive its impact. Jairam Ramesh, the Secretary-General of the Congress, shared a media report on X that claimed that the tax burden on people is increasing.

“In a self-proclaimed twin-engine government, the Indian people faced a double attack on inflation and taxes. The inflation and tax burden have been increasing over the past 10 years,” Ramesh said in an article on Hindi X.

He claims that spending on health care and education increases by 12-15% per year.
“School fees, books, uniforms – everything becomes expensive. Banks even charge fees for small services. Tax taxes on cars, net banking, and even essential items like milk, curd and flour!” he said.

Ramesh said income did not increase, but taxes and expenditures broke the support of the people.

“The Modi government should answer how ordinary people survive this kind of tax plunder and inflation rampant?” Ramesh asked. Congress has been attacking the government’s handling of the economy, claiming that prices have risen, lower private investment and stagnant wages are hitting the general public hard.
