Beda Jangama Community Population in the enumerated socioeconomic and educational survey, H. The backward class committee of Kantharaj head made great progress in socio-economic and educational investigations, which caused elevation of eyebrows, believed to be caused by many belonging to Lingayat Jangamas, who allegedly counted himself as Beda Jangamas.
The benefit of reservation is that Beda Jangamas or Buduga Jangamas are part of a list of notified scheduled castes (SCs) considered to be the cause of many Jangamas, considered as the larger group of Veerashaiava-Lingayats, classified as other backward categories (OBCs) (OBCs), and chooses to be the SCS in Beda Jangama, which is the SCS of Nomadic.
In court
With the SC enumeration for internal reservation purposes, the controversy surrounding Beda Jangama has reappeared. While Food and Civil Supplies Minister KH Muniyappa announced the issue of Lingayats incorrectly counting for retained benefits, the Beda Jangama community itself also announced another issue to the court.
It called “discriminatory” an internal booking committee led by retired judge HN Nagmohan DAS, which mandated the display of caste certificates for community members during the enumeration period. They noted that the Beda Jangama caste certificate has been halted for several years after the “fake certificate” dispute, and therefore, many real community members do not have certificates either.
Nagmohan DAS committee may seek to change the name of caste communities for certain plans
The committee source said: “Although we initially had issues related to many community members who held caste certificates, we were mandatory certificates at Beda Jangamas. However, later, we awarded three – caste certificates, AAADHAAR or BPL cards during the enumeration period – caste certificates, AAADHAAR or BPL cards.”
Mr Nagmohan Das also acknowledged that the increasing number of Beda Jangamas in the survey could undermine the balance. “There is a standard benchmark to track population growth. Any huge growth should be noted. The government decides to decide.” He also said that investigations cannot avoid those with caste certificates.
Minister of Food and Civil Supply KH Muniyappa also got involved in the controversy, who has tagged the issue to the Commission and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. “In recent years, Veerashaiva-Linagayat Jangamas, which are culturally and socially different from Beda Jangamas, are getting a caste certificate and enjoying the benefits of reservation. Only in the survey can the nomadic Beda Jangamas speak Telugu language.”
“Exception increased”
The minister noted that the “abnormal growth” of the population of the Beda Jangama community said that by 2015, when the Karnataka retreated classes conducted a survey, the population had a census of 5,141 in 1961, reaching 4,10,804.
He noted that the community found in the border areas of Vidal, Karborg, Yadgiri, Raichur and Ballari is a nomadic community of meat-eating soothsayers who seek alms from the Holeya and Madiga communities and perform rituals for their members. “They were started by the prophets of Mala Jangama, who performed the priests’ rituals,” he said.
“The enumeration of Beda Jangamas, including Lingayat Jangamas, is also a dangerous trend. They may think that the inquiry is included as proof of the SC. In the long run, this will also affect political representation. The government needs to take a harsh call on it to take action on it.” D. Chandrashekaraiah of Chalavadi Mahasabha, representing Dalit (right), also urged the government to take action against those who claim to be Beda Jangama.
