Current Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna has recommended the appointment of union judge Bhushan Ramakrishna Gavai to replace him in the top position.
Last November, President Droupadi Murmu was sworn in as Chief Justice of India’s Supreme Court after Justice Dy Chandrachud retired.
However, Justice Karna’s term has been on his way for six months as he plans to retire on May 13, 2025.
