FCDA starts operations in future cities starting in June

Hyderabad: The Future Urban Development Authority (FCDA) will start operations in June from June, with the agency building a fourth city in the urban outskirts of the Rangareddy area, official sources said Tuesday. The FCDA was established by the state government in March and will become the sole authority to approve future urban-wide building layouts and infrastructure developments.
Future City is the creative idea of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who announced the plan as the “Fourth City” in Telangana after Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Cyberabad. The city of the future is located on the Srisailam Expressway and will drive the next wave of urban and industrial expansion.
The Cabinet was approved at a meeting held on March 7 to establish the FCDA and issued a Government Order (GO) to create the FCDA on March 12. The authorities will be chaired by Revanth Reddy himself and include 11 senior officials from various departments to form a powerful decision-making body.
Despite its rapid establishment, the FCDA has remained non-functional for more than two months, resulting in chaos and delays in real estate and development projects in the area. The 2013 batch IAS official K. Shashaka was appointed as the first commissioner on April 28, marking a turning point, with the state government now focusing on implementing the authorities.
Until March, the Metropolitan Development Authority of Hyderabad (HMDA) and various local agencies awarded future city-wide building and layout approvals. However, the state government incorporated several surrounding urban and rural local institutions into the FCDA to facilitate planning, seamless and centralized development and effectively ceased all new approvals during the transition period.
This lack of clarity has led to uncertainty among real estate developers and landowners, stagnating major projects and industrial proposals. Sources said in the future, all licensing related to layout approvals, land allocations to the industry, IT and health care programs will be processed by the FCDA. The agency is expected to prioritize high-rise buildings and provide special incentives to multinational corporations interested in building infrastructure in future cities.
A brand new city
The Future Urban Development Authority (FCDA) will cover a wide area of 762.28 square kilometers
The city of the future will cover 56 income villages in Amangal, Ibrahimpatnam, Kadthal, Kandukur, Maheshwaram, Yacharam and Manchala.
Its proximity to Shamshabad Airport and strategic corridors such as Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar Highways make it a focus for future development.
FCDA’s mission includes integration plans, including metro and radial roads, state-of-the-art urban facilities, and the development of economic and industrial clusters.
Key projects for future cities include young Indian Skilled Universities, AI cities and educational hubs.
