Sources said Ricky Rai, the son of former gang agent Muthappa Rai, who died in 2020, was injured when he traveled to Bengaluru from his Bidadi farm house around 1.30 a.m. on April 19.
The driver was also injured. Both were taken to the hospital, said to be out of danger.
Senior police visited the location. Police are verifying CCTV footage from the area and surrounding areas to identify the attacker.
Ricky Rai was named in several cases and competed with many gang members in Karnataka. Sources said he was known abroad and recently returned to Bangalore.
“By the nature of the attack and what happened, it appears to be conducted by a rival gangster, probably a warning to him,” said a senior police officer.
