Fire in Mailardevpally building, 50 rescued without any harm

Hyderabad: Firefighters rescued more than 50 people, including 20, including 20, including 20, including 20, including 20, including 20, including 20, from a burning three-story building in the Mughal colony in Mailardevpally, at about 7.30 am Sunday. No casualties.

According to Chandrayangutta Station Fire Officer (SFO) K. Bikshapati said the fire was suspected to be the result of a short circuit and began on the ground floor. The fire intensified when some unused raw materials in the basement area caught fire. Residents of apartments on the second and third floors rushed to the terrace when they were warned by security personnel.

Resident Sheikh Waheed called Chandrayangutta Fire Department, which arrived at the scene within 10 minutes. Speech Deccan Chronicle“We noticed the smoke escalated to the third floor. Some of us went downstairs and the rest rushed up. People trapped on the first floor were rescued from their houses by firefighters,” Waheed said.

The flames were submerged within 90 minutes. The operation was led by MD Shabbir, who was firefighter S. Srikanth, K. Kranti and Devendrasagar accompanied. When two of them focused on putting out the flames, two of them rescued nearly 50 people, including children, were trapped underground and on the terrace.

“We first broke into the houses that lived on the first floor and took them out. When the smoke swallowed the entire building, we had to use dragon lanterns and by making them crawl to prevent anyone from inhaling any smoke.”

Rescuers held the children in their arms to disappoint them. Videos of the incident have been widely circulated on social media platforms.

Since residents did not file a complaint, no cases were registered with the Mailardevpally police. Property damage is estimated at Rs 2.5 lakh.
