Misconduct by Malayalam actresses; Kerala Minister of Culture ensures action

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s Culture Minister Saji Cherian said on Friday that the allegations of Malayalam actress Vince Aloshious will be against her co-actor, Shine Tom Chacko, who was accused of performing poorly with her on the movie set.

Cherian said the complaint filed by the actress is a serious problem and requires a thorough investigation. He praised her for sharing her experience publicly and demonstrated her courage to call for misconduct, emphasizing that such incidents are unacceptable in the Malayalam film industry, which is respected nationwide.

If the allegations against Shine Tom Chacko are proven to be correct, the government has vowed to take strict action. Minister Cherian also urged an effective internal mechanism within the film industry. He called on the film industry to respond immediately when such complaints occur.

It’s no secret that the internal committees of many film collections exist only on paper and do not adhere to established guidelines.

In related developments, the Ernakulam North Police Department directed Shine Tom Chacko to appear before the officials concerned on Saturday. He was sent a notice Friday asking for his presence at the North Police Department.

However, sources close to Chacko said he is unlikely to comply with the request because he plans to seek more time to respond to police and consult with legal counsel on complaints.

In her allegations, Vince, who has appeared in numerous films, claimed that under the influence of drugs, Shine Shine Tom Chacko made a sexually suggestive comment. She reports that when she went to the room to change clothes, the actor followed her and even offered a change to help her, which she thought was a sexual advancement.

The Malayalam Film Artists Association (AMMA) has formed a three-person committee to investigate Vince’s complaints.

At the same time, the police also studied why Chacko fled the hotel in a raid. CCTV footage showed him escaped through the window, jumped into the pool from the third floor, and left Kochi’s hotel. The authorities’ aim is to determine why he escaped, and whether he took drugs, drugs or substances from a guest who visited his hotel room.
