Five new roads opened in Idukki

Education Minister V. Sivankutty was on Friday in the area, along with 46 other roads in the state, as part of the state’s fourth anniversary.

According to officials, the Idukki department of the Public Works Department (PWD) completed the completion of five roads. The roads in the district include Perinchamkutty-Ezhukumavayal Road in Udumbanchola constituency, Arppamattam-Karimannoor Road, Karikkode-Velliyamattom-Poomala Road in the Thodupuzha Assembly constituency, Kootikkal-Kokkayar-35th Mile Road, and 35th Mile-Thekkemala Road in the Peerumade.

Udumbanchola MLA MM Mani unveiled on Perinchamkutty-Ezhukumvayal Road in Ezhukumvayal on Friday. “The region has witnessed a huge increase in road development,” Mani said.

According to officials, the driveway at Perinchamkutty-Ezhukumvayal Road is 4 m and built at Rs 5 crore. The new road also includes protective walls, drainage facilities and road safety measures.

Peerumade MLA Vazhoor Soman opened two roads under the Peerumade Parliamentary Constituency on Friday. According to officials, the construction of these village roads is a long-term need for people in the area.
