Five people were killed, two were injured, and the car fell to dry riverbed in Ratnagiri region of Maharashtra

“Their speeding car crashed on a dry riverbed in the Ratnagiri region of Maharashtra in the early hours of Monday (May 19, 2025),” police said.

“The accident happened around 5:45 a.m. near KHED when the vehicle hit the divider for the first time and fell into the dry riverbed of the Yagbodi River,” an official said. He said the vehicle was heading from Nallasopara in the Palgar region to Devrukh Town.

“Three women and two men were killed and two were injured,” he said. Officials said the deceased were identified as Mitali Vivek More (43), Megha Paradkar (22), Saurabh Paradkar (22), Nihar More (19) and Shreyas Sawant (23). He said officials from the KHED police station arrived at the scene and carried out a rescue operation.

“As the river dry, the vehicle crashed into a boulder, killing some of the crew members on the spot,” he said, adding that the injured were being treated at a hospital in Ratnagiri. “The case has been registered with the KHED Police Department and further investigation is underway,” the official said.
