Folk artist Honnuru Gowramma was awarded in Chamarajanagar

Folk artist Honnuru Gowramma, known for his affectionate interpretation Sobane Songs performed on weddings, festivals and other traditional occasions were conquered during a special show in Chamarajanagar on Monday.

The event was organized by the regional government, Karnataka Janapada Akademi and Akashvani. Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Nag introduced Felication to honor Ms. Gowramma’s important contribution to Karnataka’s rich folk traditions. She is the winner of the Karnataka Janapada Akademi Award 2023.

Ms. Gowramma is from the village of Honnuru, Yelandur Taluk, Chamarajanagar area. The event saw the presence of several VIPs, including Akadimi President Gollahalli Shivaprasad, who praised her work for preserving and promoting folk culture.

Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Nag described Chamarajanagar as an area with natural beauty and vast forests, and praised its role as a hub for folk art. She stressed the importance of identifying and recognizing folk artists, noting that such efforts are crucial to the disappearing traditional art forms.
