Pakistan said on Wednesday that this “focused on the lives of tourists in the Pahargam terrorist attack”.
“We are concerned about the lives of tourists who died in an attack in Anantnag area. We express our near-continuous condolences to the deceased and hope to recover quickly,” Pakistan’s FO spokesman Shafqat Khan said in a statement in response to media questions about the attack.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi told U.S. President Donald Trump that he was determined to punish those responsible for Pahargan terrorism, heralding retaliatory actions that have become a hallmark of his response to terrorism.
At least 26 tourists and local civilians were killed on Tuesday after gunmen opened fire in Jamu and Baisaran in Kashmir. According to witnesses, a group of armed terrorists emerged from nearby forests, and wanted fires against civilians, most of whom were tourists.
Baisran is a small meadow three to four kilometers from Pahalgam market, and tourists bring horses to this place because there are no cars on the road.
