Former Chief Icar found dead near Ashram in Mandya

Bangalore: Dr. Subbanna Ayyappan, 70, is a former director-general of the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR), found a decomposed state near Ashram in Srirangapatna in Mandia on Saturday. He was said to have disappeared from his residence in the city of Mysolu on May 7. His two-wheeler was found nearby.
Police said they will wait for an autopsy report to determine the cause of death. Sources told Deccan Chronicle On Ayyappan, it is possible to die of suicide due to personal reasons. Fisheries expert and Padma Shri winner Dr. Ayyappan is the first scientist to lead ICAR with a non-farm background.
Police said his family did not provide any information that could help them investigate. Dr. Ayyappan’s family filed a missing complaint at the Vidyaranyapuram Police Department on Friday. Some locals encountered the body near Ashram in Srirangapatna and informed the police who established their identity.
“We thoroughly scanned the neighborhood and did not encounter any suspicious elements to blame the famous scientists,” said a police officer at the scene. According to the preliminary investigation, he ruled out any foul matches in which Dr. Ayyappan died.
Dr. Ayyappan lives with his wife in Visvesvarayanagar in Mysuru city and often meditates on the bank of the Cauvery river in Srirangapatna in Mandya district, about 20 km.
