Police said former Karnataka police chief Om Prakash was found dead on Sunday at his HSR layout residence in Bangalore.
They added that he was found injured in his body, suspected that he might have been murdered.
The 68-year-old IPS official in the 1981 batch was from Champaran, Bihar and holds a master’s degree in geology. He was appointed Director-General of Police on 1 March 2015. Senior police officers arrived at the scene after receiving the message. Police suspect the involvement of a close family member.
He was found dead in blood at home on Sunday afternoon. The body has been sent for an autopsy and further investigation is underway.
After further investigation, it was confirmed that he was murdered. Police suspect Om Prakash’s wife because she was in the living area with her daughter when she died.
