Former Supreme Court Justice David Souter dies in 85

Former Supreme Court Supreme Court Justice David Souter announced Friday that he was 85 years old.

Souter, appointed by former President George HW Bush, served in court since 1990 until he retired in 2009.

John Roberts, the current Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, said Souter served “a huge difference” and brought “rare wisdom and kindness” to a lifetime of public service.

“He will be missed a lot,” Roberts added.

Sutt is considered moderate, and even if he was appointed by the Republican president, he still supports abortion rights and other left-leaning issues.

He retired in 2009 and allowed President Barack Obama to appoint his substitute. Obama chose Sonia Sotomayor to serve in court.

Obama praised Souter for his “fanity work ethics and sense of humor, integrity, equality and compassion.”

“Judge Souter shows what it means to be a just and independent judge,” Obama said. “He has no special ideology to come to the bench. He never tried to promote a political agenda. ”
