Manipur Congress filed a petition to the Supreme Court against the WAQF Act: Ibobi Singh

We do not support illegal immigration. But the natives must live together.

Senior Congress leader Okram Ibobi Singh said on Sunday (April 13, 2025) that the party’s Manipur unit will file a petition to the Supreme Court for the WAQF (Amendment) Act of 2025. The former three chief ministers claimed that the bill was a serious violation of the Constitution.

“We are totally opposed to this behavior. India is a secular country, but the current NDA government is attacking Muslims and other ethnic minorities. The state government of Congress is preparing to fight legislation. A team will leave Delhi and will challenge the application by Wednesday, April 13, 2025,” he told the lawsuit. ”

The leader also questioned the president’s rule in the state and wondered why the BJP did not form a government despite enough numbers.

“We do not support the president’s rule in Manipur. The democratic government is represented by lawmakers. Imposing the president’s rule shows that they cannot rule the country and cannot maintain law and order. Even now, they (BJP) (BJP) have enough numbers to form the government. But we don’t know why this is not allowed,” he added.

He also urged the Kuki community to reconsider its opposition to Meiteis’ annual pilgrimage to Thangjing Hills in the Churachandpur district.

“Whether it’s Kuki, Naga, Muslim or Metney, we have lived on Manipur since ancient times. I would like to call on the Kuki community to reconsider opposition to the annual pilgrimage of Mount Tangji. One day or another, we will have to be together. We are all Manipuris.

His attraction is after at least six Kuki’s corpses opposed to the annual pilgrimage to the Meti community on the Medi.
