Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed on Saturday (19 April 2025) that the BJP and RSS launched a “vicious false campaign” in West Bengal, urging the people to maintain peace and said that the majority and minority communities must take care of each other.
Ms. Banerjee refers to the violence in Murshidabad, saying that “these forces” are using the context of “unfortunate events” that occur in provocations to exert disagreement politics.

She claimed in an open letter: “The BJP and its allies have become very active in West Bengal. These allies include RSS. I don’t have the name of RSS before, but I’m now forced to identify them. Together they launched a vicious and false campaign in the state.”
She added: “These forces are taking advantage of the context of the unfortunate events that are provoking. They are using the context to play the separatist politics. They plan to play the ‘Divide and Rule’ game. It’s sinister.”
Ms Banerjee said the “criminals” behind the riots were being treated strongly, while “mutual distrust and distrust” must be avoided.
“Most and minority communities must work together and take care of each other,” she said.
She claimed: “They initially planned to use Ram Navami to play with fire, but the Ram Navami celebrations in West Bengal were the most peaceful. Then they tried to take advantage of some of the subsequent things related to the WAQF (Amendment) Act.”
She urged people not to trust the BJP and its allies, who claimed they wanted to incite the riots.
“… Riots affect everyone. We love everyone. We want to stay together. We condemn the riots. We oppose riots. They want to separate some narrow electoral politics for us.”
CM said she took “strong actions” to maintain law, order, and save human life and dignity.
She said: “The police are investigating.
Ms Banerjee claimed that BIHAR, BIHAR, MP and RAJASTHAN do not allow protest rallies, but West Bengal does not have such an anti-constitutional distribution.
She said: “When they use bulldozers in UP, the pain happens. On the contrary, in West Bengal, we help when someone suffers. This is our approach in West Bengal. In West Bengal, no community is disturbed or adversely affected. We strongly condemn this harassment.”
“Those who caused the riots always come from outside and then walk away. We have to fight their bad things now. We will survive together and win.”
Ms Banerjee said her “critics”, the BJP, wanted to divert people’s attention from the burning problems of rising prices, so they turned to “inflammatory propaganda”.
“Jealousy cannot be cured. Jealousy cannot transcend their narrow vision. Our critics do not want employment, development, creativity – their only interest is to ensure prices rise, increase the cost of medicines, hospital fees and insurance premiums to increase the prices of gasoline, diesel, diesel and even household cooking gas.”
“In the end, my appeal to everyone again is: stay calm and stay united. Don’t succumb to distrust and distrust. Don’t divert it because of their false public remarks.”
Three people were killed, other injured and many property were damaged during the protests against the WAQF (Amendment) bill in Murshidabad last week.
