Police said on Sunday (May 18, 2025) that there were four militants belonging to different bans and were involved in blackmail and recruitment of new cadres.
All arrests were conducted on Saturday (May 17, 2025).
Security forces arrested a cadre from the Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) of Leirongthel Pitra, Tubair region.
The arrested man allegedly participated in blackmail in the Tubal area. Police said a pistol and ammunition were recovered from his property.
Members of the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup were arrested from Khabeisoi, Imphal East area. He was accused of participating in recruiting new cadres from the organization.
Security forces arrested a cadre from the Khumbong United National Liberation Front (Pambei) in the Imphal West region. He was charged with collecting ransom money from a truck along the NH-37 along the NH-37 at Khumbong Bazar.
A cadre of the People’s Liberation Force who participated in the extortion was arrested by Wangjing Sorokhaibam Leirak in the Thoubal area.
Meanwhile, police conducted a search operation on the Kumbi Setupur hills in the Bishnupur area and found two SMG carbines with empty magazines, CMG with empty magazines, CMG with empty magazines, a DBBL gun, a 9mm pistol, five PEK explosives and other items.
