A terrible marine disaster in downtown New York took place Saturday night in the heart of New York City when a towering Mexican naval ship crashed into the Brooklyn Bridge, injuring at least 35 people, including four.
Cuauhtémoc is a majestic three-masted sailboat training vessel that, on the maneuver of the departure, hit the bottom of the historical bridge before 8:30 pm, carrying hundreds of cadets and crew.
Within seconds, Joey turned into chaos when the ship’s 147-foot-tall mast broke like a branch, emitting debris, steel and rigging hit the deck below.
Afterwards, the Emergency Responders competed for the scene, the New York Police Department Port and the Scuba Team conducted a crazy search and rescue mission.
No one is believed to have fallen into the East River, and dozens of victims were reportedly injured and four sailors were in critical condition, fire officials said.
Videos at the scene showed the terrifying bystander screaming and fleeing as the ship approached, part of its huge mast, cutting a breath.
Some viewers watching on the land think the ship may hit the shoreline.
Witnesses said one of the broken masts sent two sailors through the rigging as other sailors were seen clinging dozens of feet above the rope and beam.

According to Mayor Eric Adams, the ship exited from Pier 17 at the time of the crash, appearing to have lost power.
The ship collided directly with the lower structure of the bridge, which had a maximum clearance of only 135 feet, much lower than the height of the highest mast of Cuauhtémoc.
Despite the huge collision, no losses were found on Brooklyn Bridge as of late Saturday night, according to Mayor Adams’ office.
The bridge briefly closed in both directions before reopening around 10:30 pm.
Shocked bystanders captured the collision of Cuauhtémoc from multiple angles, many of whom were filming the big ship as they tried to leave.
