Foxconn will start shipping iPhones from Devanahalli units in June: MB Patil

Industry Minister MB Patil said on Saturday that Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn is expected to open commercial shipments of Apple iPhones in the outskirts of Bangalore from its Devanahalli division.

He said, “Mr. Tim Cook, Apple CEO, has confirmed that in the June quarter, the U.S. will sell most iPhones in India.”

Mr. Patil’s statement comes days after U.S. President Donald Trump told Mr. Cook to stop making iPhones to India.

The minister announced that Foxconn’s division could almost be launched and commercial iPhone shipments are expected to begin in June. “This is more than a manufacturing milestone – it marks a strategic shift. With geopolitical and tariff pressures rising, India is quickly becoming Apple’s preferred production center. This development has strengthened Karnataka’s position in global manufacturing and opened the door for greater foreign investment – without harming stakeholders.”

Foxconn has founded its manufacturing plant in Devanahalli with a capital investment of Rs 21911 crore. “The company will provide Rs 697 billion through the Electronic Systems Design and Manufacturing Company (ESDM),” Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said in his 2025-26 budget speech.
