Gadkari to unveil Rs 40,000 crore highway project in Odisha

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari will launch and lay the foundation for a Rs 4,000 crore highway project in Odisha on Thursday (17 April 2025), the official press release said.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and State BJP President Manmohan Samal welcomed the Union Minister after Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and State BJP President Manmohan Samal arrived at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar.

He began the day-long Eastern State by attending the Harekrushna Mahatab commemorative speech at Ravenshaw University in Cuttack, commemorating the birth anniversary of the former chief minister.

Mr. Gadkari will attend a commemorative speech on “Infrastructure Development and Odisha” on the occasion of the 125th anniversary of Mahatab’s birth and attend a national conference.

The union minister will visit the World Skills Center in the afternoon, the press release said.

He will be the foundation of the 19 national highway project at a public meeting in Baramunda Maidan, Bhubaneswar, at around 4.30 pm, worth Rs 40,000 crore.

These projects will cover 105 km of roads in the Kurda, Puri, Ganjam, Kandahar and Nayagar regions.

Key projects include the four cyclists extended by Banarpal-Godibandha, the expansion of the Daringbadi Ghat section on the NH-59 and the expansion of the NH-10 (Mangalpur to Kayangola).

“Gadkari is also expected to issue some announcements on the new infrastructure plan and plans to accelerate national road expansion in Odisha,” said Labor Minister Prithviraj Harichandan.
