An online gaming company, Thursday (March 27, 2025). The Madras High Court was told that the willingness to allow individuals to play for 19 hours a day due to reported health issues, but opposed the Tamil Nadu Online Games Authority (TNOGA) insisted that the “blank hours” were imposed only on the “blank hours” between 12:00 and midnight each day.
Appearing before Justices SM Subramaniam and K. Rajasekar, senior legal counsel Mukul Rohatgi, representing Playgames 24×7 Private Limited, questioning the logic of imposing a blank space only between 12:00 and other times, although others want to be active late at night.

Senior lawyers mainly questioned the regulations proposed by Tnoga, saying they were disproportionate and arbitrary. He wondered how to play RMG alone between midnight and 12 a.m. between midnight and 5 a.m., citing health issues, even if the ban could be imposed during those times or when watching TV would cause damage.
However, as Tnoga is working to protect public health, Mr. Rohatgi submitted his client’s willingness to stop a single player from playing RMG for more than 19 hours a day, if it is allowed to apply five hours of blank space at any time of the day without imposing blank space without limiting 12:00 midnight and 5:00 midnight every day.

He also said Tnoga could relax its insistence on using Knowledge Customer (KYC) verification, play RMG with Aadhaar otp, and allow online gaming companies to verify even with other documents (such as driver’s license, passport, etc.). He further said that online gaming companies do not allow minors to play RMG, and they have also set certain currency restrictions to play RMG.
After Rohatgi completed his argument on Thursday, the division was told Senior Legal Counsel Sajjan Poovayya would submit his comments to other online gaming companies. Senior Legal Counsel C. Aryama Sundaram is also expected to advocate with the assistance of Arvind Srevatsa that the PS Raman defense general can respond to their arguments on behalf of the State and Tnoga.
