Adani Defense and Aerospace of the Adani Group partnered with Sparton (DeLeon Springs LLC) based in the United States to build India’s first indigenous Sonobuoy system for India’s first Indian Navy. This marks an important step in assembling complex electronic systems and advanced ASW solutions for the Indian and global markets. Sparton (DeLeon Springs LLC) is a group company composed of Elbit Systems and a leading provider of Advanced Anti-Aristocratic War (ASW) systems.
Through this collaboration, Adani Defense and Aerospace became the first private-sector company in India to offer Indigenous Sonobuoy Solutions, highlighting its commitment to strengthening U.S. self-reliance. “In an increasingly volatile maritime environment, enhancing India’s capacity for undersea warfare is not only a strategic priority, but also a necessity to safeguard sovereignty and national interests,” said Jeet Adani, vice president of Adani Enterprises.
According to him, the Indian Navy needs integrated, ready ISR and anti-noble war capabilities, including critical systems like Sonobuoys, which are developed locally, quickly deployable and globally competitive. “Through this partnership with Spartaton, Adani’s Defense and Aerospace became the first private company in India to offer localized Sonobuoy solutions, enabling access to advanced technologies while promoting a future ready, self-reliant defense ecosystem. This initiative reflects the vision of our group, reflects the Indian vision for India and India, and provides India with the empowerment and global delivery of India,” added.

The partnership will combine Spartaton’s groundbreaking ASW technology with expertise in the development, manufacturing and Indian Navy hosting. Sonobuoys is a mission-critical platform for raising awareness of the submarine domain (UDA), providing an effective means to detect, locate and track submarines and other underwater threats. They play a key role in the Anti-Sea War (ASW) and other naval operations, and they support the maintenance of naval security and protection of naval carrier strike groups. Adani Defense and Aerospace have built a vibrant startup and MSME ecosystem with an export-oriented mindset, first-class process and quality management system.
