Gautam Adani's company received a massive power contract of 1500 MW from the state, instead of Gujarat, Maharashtra

Adani Power, the company of Indian billionaire Gautam Adani, has won another big contract. The company has won a contract to offer a 1,500 MW from a thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh, ANI reported. The minister said the cost per unit of power per kilowatt-hour is Rs 5.383. Adani is one of the largest private thermal power producers in India. It is part of the diversified Adani Group. As of May 6, the company's market value was Rs 2.07 crore.
The minister said the Adani Group company participated in a competitive bid with the lowest quotation per unit among participating companies. “We decided to purchase a total of 1500 MW (ex-bus) power from a 2×800 MW (1600 MW) thermal power project based on competitive bidding. Under this, seven companies came forward and participated in the bidding processes… Adani Power Ltd has won a contract to supply 1500 megawatts from a thermal power plant in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh at Rs. 5.383 per unit,” AK Sharma told Lucknow's reporter.
Energy demand in Uttar Pradesh has been rising, which has been a huge economic growth in the past few years. The minister said the state crossed peak electricity demand of 30,000 megawatts last year and is expected to maintain that level this year as well.

Adani Power has a power generation capacity of 17,510 MW, including the 40 MW Solar Power Project in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Tamil Nadu, as well as its website. On April 30, Adani Power Limited reported that the company's revenue results showed that it had generated 100.2 billion units of electricity in the just-concluded fiscal year 2024-25, a 19.5% increase from 85.5 BU in 2023-24 from 85.5 BU in 2023-24.
