General Upendra Dwivedi, together with Army Commander, examines the security situation, giving full power to deal with violations

Dwivedi has granted Army Commanders the power to oppose any violation of the understanding achieved at the DGMO level on May 10.
“The #COA has granted Army Commanders full authority to fight back in the field of dynamics to violate the understanding achieved in recognition of the DGMO talks of May 10, 2025.”
Pakistan violates agreement within hours
India said Pakistan violated a deal, which took effect several hours after the agreement was reached and was effective at 5 p.m. on Saturday to prevent military operations against each other.
“In the past few hours, there have been repeated violations of understanding,” Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said in a television presentation late Saturday. “The armed forces have responded adequately and appropriately to these violations. We call on Pakistan to take appropriate measures to resolve these violations and to handle the situation with serious and responsibility.” Srinagar was shocked by multiple explosions for at least 40 minutes on Saturday night, continuing around 8:50 on Saturday night after India announced a bilateral agreement. Similar reports come from other parts of Kashmir, including Anantnag in the south and Baramulla in the north. The deal aims to stop the four-day clashes triggered by the terrorist attack on 26 people on Pahargam tourists on April 22. The agreement was arrived purely by bilateral means and has no prerequisites. “India and Pakistan have some understanding of shutdowns and military operations today,” Foreign Minister Jaishankar posted on X earlier. “India has been maintaining a firm and uncompromising position on terrorism in its various forms and manifestations. It will continue to do so.”
Misri said the deal was reached between Army officials on both sides. This emphasizes the absence of third-party mediation.
“The Director-General of Pakistan Military Operations (DGMO) called the Director-General of India Military Operations at the 1535-hour IST on Saturday,” he said in a statement. “With their agreement, both sides will cease all shooting and military operations on land and in the air and sea, effective from 1700 hours of Indian Standard Time.”
