GHMC hires trans people in various roles

Hyderabad: After the traffic police, the GHMC will follow the direction of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to hire trans people to make third-gender people economically viable.

According to a statement released by the GHMC, the citizen agency will hire transgender people as caregivers in Basti Dawakhanas and serve as security personnel at subway stations and other locations. Transgender personnel will also be deployed as Green Marshals to perform cleanliness in parks, HMWS and SB reservoirs and test drinking water quality. They will be trained to repair and maintain street lights.

Transgender people will also participate in self-help groups (SGHS) to provide financial assistance to them through banks similar to women’s SHGs.

GHMC officials met with representatives from the city’s transgender community at GHMC headquarters on Wednesday and discussed several of their employment opportunities in the city.

They urge trans people to choose an industry based on their educational qualifications, skills and interests, and GHMC will initiate steps to provide employment by providing training accordingly.
