GHMC is alert to discovering incomplete, flawed works

Hyderabad: A building project marked as complete is incomplete. A swimming pool struggles without connections. A new road was damaged due to a leak of water pipes. These and other issues are marked by the GHMC Vigilance Wing report, which examines the work carried out by the GHMC Engineering Department.
These issues arise in the billing project. The project wing is mainly responsible for the laying of new roads and their maintenance, as well as the construction of functional halls, RCC box drainage pipes and other civil engineering projects.
GHMC’s Vigilance Wing Report mentions loopholes in 20 works. Although some were marked as incomplete, differences were found in others. The then GHMC Commissioner K. Ilambarithi ordered an investigation and the report had been submitted to his successor RV Karnan.
Works detecting bills for 2016-17, 2020-21, 2021-22 and 2022-23.
The Vigilant Wing pointed out that there was a “difference” when building a community hall in Vinayaknagar in the Malkagiri Circle. Although the work status was mentioned as “complete”, the vigilance report found that despite the approval of Rs 197.1 lakh payment, it was still incomplete.
Another example of the difference is the construction of a community hall in Patelguda, Hayathnagar Circle. According to the report, there is a difference between estimated work orders and actual construction costs.
Regarding the repair and reconstruction of the storm drain pipes in Ramreddynagar in Habsiguda Ward, the report mentioned that despite the completion of the work, NALA was encroached on by local families through construction ramps.
For the swimming pool at Kattedan Sports Complex, there is no water connection.
Even after spending money on its construction, the pool couldn’t run due to payment issues with HMWS&SB.
Regarding the cement concrete (CC) road in the Secunderabad Monda Market Ward, the vigilance report said the road was damaged due to a water pipe leak.
