Fadnavis reviews security preparations in Mumbai

Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Monday that Mumbai’s status as India’s economic capital has made it a potential target due to the proxy war in Pakistan.
“Pakistan knows they cannot win with India in a direct war. But we have seen in history that they have chosen proxy wars, which makes Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, vulnerable,” said Fadnavis, who is also the state Home Minister, after holding a review meeting with defence forces at his official residence Varsha, to discuss the state’s security and preparedness against the backdrop of rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
CM said that due to its importance as India’s financial capital, any terrorist threat to Mumbai could directly affect the country’s economic base.
He added: “Cities like Mumbai are very important. In previous attacks, the enemy tried to show that they targeted the country’s economic hub. In this case, intelligence sharing will be very important and requires adequate care in terms of cybersecurity. Therefore, the state government and the defense forces must be more coordinated.”
The meeting discussed improved intelligence sharing, more technology use, necessary preventive measures, and expected cooperation between the state government and the Defense Forces, while establishing a faster coordination mechanism.
During the meeting, CM Fadnavis also praised the accuracy and effectiveness of the Indian armed forces during the Sindoor operation, calling it “unprecedented” and paying tribute to their efforts. “I pay tribute to the armed forces. Our army has shown Pakistan its location. Many air bases and terror hotbeds in Pakistan have been destroyed,” he said.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, as well as senior officials from the Army, Navy and Air Force, also participated in the meeting, including a lieutenant, later general admiral, commander and deputy air marshal.
Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army (GOC), Lieutenant Gen Pawan Chadha, Gujarat and Goa Region; Naval Flag Officer commanded the Naval Region of Maharashtra (FOMA), Anil Jaggi, Deputy Marshal Rajat Mohan, Air Force Deputy Marshal of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Representative of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (jnpt), Bombay Exchange (BSE), ATS STREPOR-STREPORISIS, ATSENTIRISPRIANS, ANT-HOSORD (BSE) others were present.
