Gold was smuggled to India after announcing it to take it to Geneva or Bangkok: DRI tells Karnataka High Court

Actors Harshavardini Ranya Rao and Tarun Konduru Raju were used to announce gold at Dubai Airport, claiming it can be carried to Geneva or Bangkok by booking tickets to both destinations at the same time before booking both destinations and any of India. Karnataka Monday.

Interestingly, the two did not cancel the tickets booked for Geneva or Bangkok on the same date, and even after traveling to India with gold bars, the tickets were not cancelled. The DRI also told the court that India has no restrictions on bringing gold to Geneva or Bangkok like India does.

The opinions were brought before S. Vishwajith Shetty, who heard the petition filed by Ranya and Tarun, a U.S. citizen and a resident of Hyderabad, and sought bail in a gold smuggling case.

DRI said Lanya used to book tickets for both using a credit card, and after marriage, she deposited cash into his account to book a trip to Dubai.

DRI told the court on a protocol facility to Ranya at the airport that the police officer’s statement stated that this was given in accordance with the instructions of DGP Ramachandra Rao, who is Ranya’s Step STEP father.

As the argument is inconclusive, the court postponed further hearings until April 23.
