Forbes’ 2025 billionaires roster sees a record 3028 billionaires, Elon Musk is on top and Mukesh Ambani leads in India.

Tech leaders soar to the top, Mukesh Ambani leads India’s roster, Adani slips and falls around the world

Forbes released its annual list of world billionaires in 2025, and this year, the numbers are bigger than ever. The total number of billionaires worldwide has reached 3,028, an increase of 247 from last year. Overall, they now have a huge $16.1 trillion, $2 trillion more than their fortune in 2024.

Again, the United States leads with the largest number of billionaires, with a total of 902. China ranks second with 516 billionaires, followed by India, which now has 205 billionaires, a five more than last year.

India’s top billionaires: Ambani and Adani remain in charge
Mukesh Ambani remains the richest Indian and the richest in Asia. Chairman Reliance Industries has a net worth of US$92.5 billion, ranking 18th in the world. Gautam Adani, chairman of Adani Group, ranks 28th on the global list, at $56.3 billion. He is the fourth largest Asian, second only to Tiktok founder Zhang Yiming, Nongfu Spring’s Zhong Shanshan and Mukesh Ambani.

Even if the number of billionaires in India increases, their total net worth has actually fallen. In 2024, the total wealth of Indian billionaires was $954 billion, but in 2025, it has dropped to $941 billion. This fall is due to Ambani and Adani’s net assets falling by $20 billion as the company’s stock market performance fell.

Rich List of Global: Elon Musk Ranked Again
Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk have maintained his status as the world’s richest man, with a jaw-dropping wealth of $342 billion, almost double the amount last year. Mark Zuckerberg of Meta finished second for $216 billion, followed by $215 billion by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

Other names in the top ten in the world include Oracle’s Larry Ellison, LVMH’s Bernard Arnault, Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett, and Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Spaniard Amancio Ortega, the man behind fashion brand Zara and Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer are also in the top 10. It is worth noting that only two out of two out of ten (France) (France) and Ortega (Spain) come from countries outside the United States.

Alice Walton: The Richest Woman in the World
Walmart heiress Alice Walton remains the richest woman in the world with a net worth of $100.1 billion. She ranks 15th overall. Her brothers Rob and Jim Walton are also in the top 15, making Walmart one of the most powerful family-run empires on the list.

Other women in the top 50 include Francoise Bettencourt Meyers of L’Oreal, Koch Industries’ Julia Koch, Jacqueline Mars of Mars Inc., Shipping Magnate Rafaela Aponte-Diamant and India’s own Savitri Jindal.

Meanwhile, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates fell to 13th place with a net worth of $100.8 billion, a major change in the tech giant once considered the world’s wealthiest.
