Mumbai: Union Minority and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Tuesday that the two main goals of the new WAQF Act are to benefit poor Muslims and to stop robbery and abuse of the property. Mr. Rijiju also asserted that every inch of land should be properly used in a major country like India.

“India is a large country, every inch of land in the country should be used appropriately. India owns the most land in the world. The most land on land is the WAQF property in the world. There are 72,000 WAQF property in India, and in India it is not used in poor Muslims among poor Muslims. When the poor Muslims are caused by the Muslims, our land is effective, so our land is important. Stop looting and abuse of property.” said the minister.

Accuse Congress and other opposition parties of launching a “misunderstanding” campaign against the WAQF (Amendment) Act (2025), the minister said the government will expose them in the days to come. The WAQF (Amendment) bill has been enacted to eliminate problems and challenges in the regulation and management of WAQF property without infringing on the rights of anyone. He added that the bill was to improve the efficiency of the WAQF board by removing loopholes in previous laws.

Earlier in the day, Mr Rijiju claimed: “Most parts of the Muslim community are very welcome”. He said the Center has made the necessary amendments, “The WAQF Act changes require that the WAQF Act are actually proposed by all committees of the committee, and if you are in the Congressional committee’s report, their committee reports. Talk about (executing) WAQF property management is more efficient, transparent and responsible.
