The state government has declared human wildlife conflict a state-specific disaster to speed up aid and relief, including payments to victims of such encounters or their next relatives to full-nia payments.

It also establishes detailed norms to compensate victims of such conflicts based on the severity of the injury and the extent of financial losses and finalizes the compensation table.

Importantly, the government said the government would express relief to victims, whether these encounters occur in protected wildlife reserves or around such shelters.

In a stroke, the government appears to be trying to address long-term complaints from settler farmers and tribal communities. The government will mobilize the National Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) and the forest sector’s “own” funds to compensate victims of human wildlife conflict. This command will have no retrospective effect.

The National Disaster Administration submitted a compensation chart on January 31 and finalized the criteria for paying relief to the government. The government then reviewed the proposal and approved it.

According to the government’s compensation form, victims of people who died in human wildlife conflicts will receive a grant payment of Rs 1 million.

Officials in the forest range should prove that the incident is a human wild plant conflict, and government doctors should lawfully prove the cause of death. When engaging in mitigating conflicts in human wildlife, the relatives of the next civilian will also receive Rs 1 million in compensation.

The government also classified venomous snakes, bees and wasp attacks as human wildlife conflicts. Those who die in such encounters will receive Rs 4 lakh of government compensation. The next relative of the person who was killed when such intrusion is removed is also eligible for compensation.

People who maintain 40% to 50% of disabled people in wildlife attacks are eligible for maximum compensation of Rs 2 lakh. Government doctors should approve their physical disability claims. Officials in the forest range should testify that wildlife attacks have caused disability.

People who suffer such injuries while mitigating or preventing conflicts in human wildlife are eligible for the same compensation. Relief is also for people who have lost their limbs or vision during wildlife attacks.

The government will award up to ₹84,000 of up to ₹84,000 to injured people who need to be hospitalized for at least one week. However, citizens covered by the Ayushman Bharat health insurance plan will not be able to obtain compensation from the state. However, the standards do not apply to pre-determined caste and tribal communities.

The government will also make up for the loss of livestock and the losses caused by wild animal attacks. It will also pay for damage to the home and cattlesheds. The state will also cover costs for wildlife capture and release operations.
