Hassan Taluk's Attavara Government High School sets records by continuously registering 100% of the results in the past eight years of SSLC exams. Since the 2017-18 school year, the school has failed the exam.
All 25 students who took the exam earlier this year passed. Seven of them scored the difference, but scored top-notch scores at 14 points. The weight percentage of quality is 86.95, measured by the number of students who get the distinction and first-class score.
Since 2017, up to 210 students have taken the SSLC exam, all of which have passed.
The school has maintained a good pass percentage due to activities started by teachers eight years ago. KP Narayan is now the neighborhood education officer at Arakalgud Taluk and was the principal at the time. Teachers begin monthly unit tests, conduct family visits, interact with parents regularly, hold parent meetings on school campus, conduct group learning, attend additional classes early in the day and evenings, and offer prizes to those who score the highest in unit tests. Such efforts have produced results.
Prakash, who teaches English in schools, said that since 2017, the school has followed certain measures to achieve 100%. “We have been continuing to take the same steps, all of which have helped us retain the same results. Principal HP Rajashekhar and other staff have made a sincere effort to the current results,” he said.
The teacher believes it is necessary to make parents confident and to engage them in their efforts. “We meet with parents regularly, which helps us ensure that students pay attention to their studies when they are at home. We identified slow learners at the beginning of the year and gave extra attention. With the support of our parents, we did additional classes in the evening,” Mr Ashok said.
Channammaanahalli's Lakshmi, who scored the highest score in the school, scored 599 out of 625, said: “The teachers played a big role. They performed surprise tests to check if we understood the concepts well, which helped us focus on topics that needed more attention,” she said.
As the school has maintained an impressive percentage of passes, many parents are attending Level 10 at school. “Generally, some private schools insist that slow learners leave school level 10. We recognize these students and make them clear about the exam,” Mr Prakash added.
