Continue to transfer existing 41% of tax power to states: BJP Leaders

20-point program chairman Lanka Dinakar is also the BJP chief spokesman Andhra Pradesh and Jammalamadugu MLA CH. Adaryana Reddy submitted a memorandum of proposals to Arvind Panagariya, Chairman of the 16th Finance Committee on Wednesday.
They asked Mr. Panagariya to continue to transfer the existing 41% tax authority to the states before finalizing the decentralization, and to make tax deficit grants under finalization, and to continue to receive income deficit grants from states with insufficient after-tax decentralization based on existing parameters.
Mr Dinakar said that grants from specific sectors should be given priority to ensure drinking water supply, installation of dialysis centers in areas affected by fluorosis, implementation of agricultural reforms, etc.
Special attention is needed to assess the performance of ideal districts and neighborhoods, and in addition to population and region standards, slums and infrastructure should be considered to fund local institutions.
In addition, Mr Dinakar and Mr Adinarayana Reddy wish to pay special attention to providing adequate funding for disaster risk management and seeking timely release of matching grants under the Centrally sponsored Program (CSS). The BJP leader added that funds under the various CS used in 2019-24 should be provided to the state to enable it to leverage these programs to benefit people.
