Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, with a firm commitment to reducing fossil fuel consumption, has transformed most of his official fleet into electric vehicles (EVs) and ambitious goals to transform Raj Bhawan into a net-zero energy campus.
“My goal is to reduce the use of fossil fuels at all levels. So we decided to switch to electric vehicles, which will not only reduce our reliance on gasoline and diesel, but will also help pollution around us. [remain] free. ” Mr. Kambapatti said in a press conference on Saturday.
There are even some two-wheeled electric car scooters that have been purchased for Raj Bhawan. Raj Bhawan's employees were encouraged to turn to electric vehicles as part of a special power to stop using fossil fuels.
Mr Kambhampati urged citizens to embrace green energy to reduce pollution, maintain the planet and save foreign exchange by reducing crude oil imports.
Similarly, the 150-kilowatt solar power plant is already operating there, with a 400-kilowatt solar power plant set to be installed. “The monthly electricity consumption is about Raj Bhawan and 16,000 units are being generated. When Raj Bhawan will feed the grid, the days are not far away.”
He urged people to use central and state programs to promote the use of solar energy by providing high subsidies.
Mr Kambhampati thanked the Odisha government for providing additional subsidies under the PM Surya Ghar scheme and noted that it would encourage more people to adopt solar energy.
Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, deputy chief minister who holds the energy portfolio, said during this period that the state government has adopted a policy to gain power from solar power to all government buildings. Subsequently, solar panels will be installed in all government residential areas.
