British-born immigrant children fight for poverty – Channel 4 News

Four and a half children (or one-third) formally live in poverty in the UK. Although the government has promised to solve the problem – some of the most vulnerable young people may not have any financial safety net at all.

These are children born in the UK and are immigrant parents with legal right to work here. However, they have visas saying they “did not turn to public funds” – they are unable to obtain universal credit, income support, social housing and even child benefits. We have been shooting with some of the young people affected over the past two years.
