GST Collection sets new record in April 2025

New Delhi: Revenue from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) has set a new record in April 2025, up 12.6% year-on-year to Rs 2.37 crore. Government data showed Thursday that it was the highest monthly payment since the taxes proposed in 2017. However, April is the fourth straight month, which still surpasses the trademark of Rs 180 crore.
According to the data, GST’s previous highest collection was recorded in Rs 210 crore in April 2024, the second highest collection since the indirect tax regime was introduced, while in March 2025, revenue arrears were Rs 196 crore. As consumption helps support the country’s economy, the performance from the previous quarter is also excellent. However, the quarterly collection reached new heights in the last quarter of FY25 to Rs 5.75 crore.
“GST revenue for domestic transactions rose 10.7% to about Rs 19 crore, while revenue from imported goods rose 20.8% to Rs 46,911.3 crore. IGST revenue increased 20.8% while domestic revenue increased 10.7%” the data increased 10.7%. ”
After the data adjusted for refunds, data showed that net GST collections in April rose 9.1% to Rs 2.09 crore. However, during this period, the refund issuance rate rose 48.3% to Rs 27,341 crore. “Refunds are also higher, accounting for 48.3%, resulting in a lower net income of 9.1%,” the data showed.
