GVMC deputy mayoral election postponed due to lack of quorum

Visakhapatnam: The highly anticipated election for the deputy mayor, the postal deputy mayor, was postponed due to a lack of a quorum on Monday. Although the process was expected to be only formal, only 54 out of 56 companies were present, prompting regional joint collector election official K. Mayur Ashok to reschedule the meeting on Tuesday.

NDA United Corporation has worked together in a motion of distrust to express their dissatisfaction with YSRC Deputy Mayor Jiyyani Sridhar with the new deputy mayoral election held on May 19. An independent volunteer aligned with JS and three TD Asportants, who were awarded JANASANA SENA to Jana Sena to JANASANA Party.

There are few key competitors in the election, including TD Gandham Srinu (Ward 76), Golagani Mangaveni (Ward 18), Melli Hemalatha (District 5) and independent aspirants (Ward 32) consistent with JS Kandula Nagaraju (Ward 32), have been added to Intigue around the event.

Meanwhile, tensions within TD escalated as the name of JS company Dalli Govinda Reddy was unexpectedly included in a sealed envelope sent by Vijayawada. JS had previously considered Peddisetti Ushasri (Ward 43) as deputy mayoral position with the aim of appointing a woman. However, because she is aligned with YSRC, TDP companies, especially those supporting Gandham Srinu, refused to work together.

The internal power struggle within the TD and JS parties further complicated the lawsuit. State president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao, who has repeatedly advocated the party’s digital strength, admitted that the finalization of the deputy mayor candidate was delayed. He stressed that despite TD’s decision to support JS in the position, internal desires within TD contributed to the deadlock.

Political calculations determine the process of the election, and everyone is now at a meeting on Tuesday. Stakeholders hope to break the deadlock and welcome the next deputy mayor of GVMC. Whether compromise or confrontation prevails remains to be seen.
