Viktor Orban: “Thank you, my friend Viktor…”: Netanyahu praises Hungary for announcing the withdrawal of iCC – Economic Times Video

Hungary said on Thursday it will withdraw from the International Criminal Court, where Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, announced its ruling, which is still visiting there despite facing an international arrest warrant. Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s government has made it clear that it will ignore its obligations to the ICC warrant. Instead of arresting him in Budapest when he arrived in Budapest on Thursday morning, Hungary welcomed him in a military honor band overlooking the Danube. The withdrawal of the announcement made Hungary the only country in the European Union, saying it was going to start from the International Court of Justice. The move cemented Orban’s position as a stranger in Europe – a role he appreciated primarily for domestic political reasons – and showed his desire to be consistent with the Trump administration, which had a contempt for Hungary to key international institutions. Orban’s chief of staff Gergely Gulyas said in a Facebook message that Hungary will begin the process of withdrawing from the International Criminal Court “under the constitutional and international law framework.”
