Hail accompanied by heavy rain in Bangalore

Bengaluru: Heavy rains hit the city of Bangalore on Tuesday with hail, causing water supply and traffic congestion. Reports show heavy rains were suffered in the south and southeast of the city.
Banaswadi witnessed heavy rains accompanied by hail, a resident called it “one of the heaviest hailstorms in recent years.” According to sources, RT Nagar had 68mm of rainfall, followed by Kamanahalli (45mm), Marathahalli (35mm), new Bel Road (23mm), Mahadevapura (22mm) and Brookfields (23mm).
As heavy rain affected vehicle movement, Whitefield traffic police, Mahadevapura and others quickly sent inquiries to the driver. Whitefield traffic police warned drivers that traffic flows around Balagere T-junction Road due to water supply.
The trees were uprooted in RT Nagar after heavy rains slammed the area. Later, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike personnel cleared down the fallen trees from the road. RT Nagar police closed an open drainage room in CQA Cross, which poses a threat to the public.

A motorist driving on Shanti Nagar dual-way expressed dissatisfaction with authorities not taking measures to mitigate vehicle actions on the road, while pedestrians complained that blocked rainwater drainage would cause road flooding.
