Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand said 55 transmission projects, including strengthening ICT capabilities and installing other bus reactors for reactive power management, stock worth Rs 4,965 crore is at various stages and is expected to be commissioned in 2025-26 and will be conducted in the next two fiscal years.

“These projects represent phased and strategic expansion of the state’s transmission infrastructure, aiming to improve grid reliability and operational efficiency,” said Mr. Vijayanand, also the Special Chief Secretary (Energy) (Energy), during a review meeting on AP-Transco’s main infrastructure work at Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Kadapa Zones on Friday.

He said that transport projects of Rs 1.8 crore have been successfully conducted, which have been successfully commissioned, which play a crucial role in enhancing the system’s evacuation system and meeting the rising system’s capacity to energy demand.

AP-Transco has recently placed orders for nearly 10 major projects costing Rs 34,07 crore, including transfers of 400 kV and 220 kV lines in the capital region. In addition, under various government plans, tenders are being offered for Rs 47 crore tenders of Rs 47 crore.

He said AP-Transco is integrating advanced technologies such as SCADA systems and automation across substations to modernize its infrastructure, with upgrades aiming to improve real-time monitoring, increase efficiency and minimize energy losses.

Growing consumption

National Electric Power Corporation is preparing to meet growing daily consumption, which is expected to reach 260 million vehicles (MUs) in the coming months. Mr Vijayanand added that AP-Transco aligns its operations with the state’s broader energy vision, focusing on providing quality infrastructure that minimizes transmission losses and ensures uninterrupted power.
