Prakash Raj said he had reduced his work in Bollywood after he spoke out about his political beliefs and criticized the current BJP-led government, including PM Narendra Modi.

Prakash Raj often comments on political issues and opposes governments including BJP-led, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The experienced actor slammed the Hindi film industry for being silent on political issues in a recent interview, adding that “half of them are for sale” and that “the other half is afraid” against the government.
Prakash Raj shared in accepting Lallantop's speech that any government will try to curb its criticism, but filmmakers need to make important films and fight for release. “Any powerful government will stop talking. Secondly, it should be among artists, too. They should also be aware of the movie they make, and they are willing to fight for the release of the movie. This resilience is needed.”
Speaking of his colleagues in Bollywood, the five-time National Award winner added: “Half of them are for sale, my own colleagues, and half of them are scared because they have no power. I had a very close friend who told me, 'prakash aap aap aap mein dum hai, aap bol bol bol bol sakte hai, main nahi bol pata (you can say it's my power) I told him, I understand, but I can't forgive because in the future, when history is written, it will forgive those who commit crimes, not those who are silent.”
