Sisodia RP Sisodia, Special Secretary of the Ministry of Handloom and Textiles at the Lepakshi showroom in Vijayawada on Friday.

The Ministry of Handlooms and Textiles proposes modernizing the statewide Lepakshi sales center to effectively demonstrate the nature of traditional handicrafts.

Special Chief Secretary (Handloom and Textiles) RP Sisodia, chaired a review meeting, said that the modern design of the Lepakshi showroom was being developed in collaboration with Vijayawada’s School of Planning and Architecture (SPA).

Mr Sisodia, along with representatives from the spa, reviewed new designs for various showrooms, including those established in New Delhi. He said the showrooms will reflect the nature of Andhra Pradesh’s long history, handicrafts, handlooms and Telugu culture. He also discussed the design of the proposed showroom at Rajamahendravaram Airport and built a new showroom in Tirupati.

Mr Sisodia said while Lepakshi is profitable for an organization, some separate showrooms caused losses. When interacting with the showroom manager, he directed them to identify the reasons for their respective units’ poor performance and asked them to work hard to earn profitability.

He visited the main exhibition center at the headquarters of Lepakshi, where Managing Director Vishwa introduced him to the origins of the artworks and the origins of the craftsmen who created them. Mr. Sisodia stressed the importance of attractive packaging for effective marketing.

Spa, Vijayawada, D. Srinivas Architecture Head, Spa T. Madhava Rao Assistant Professor of Architecture and State-level Lepakshi Showroom Manager attended the meeting.
