Harish says Tax revenue in Telangana has decreased

Hyderabad: Former Minister and BRS leader T. Harish Rao pointed out in the last fiscal year that the revenue in the last fiscal year was unprecedented in the state’s own tax revenue (SOTR) and blamed it on poor management of the government.
He said the SOTR fell from Rs 124,146.19 crore in fiscal 2023-24 to Rs 124,543.8 crore in fiscal 2024-25 (until February). Harish Rao said in a statement that this revenue decline was only comparable to the decline experienced during the 19th pandemic.
Harish Rao said the fall was contrary to the 12% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) achieved during the BRS regime. He alleged that the decline in SOTR directly reflects ineffective governance and poorly designed economic policies by the Congressional administration.
Harish Rao condemned the poor management of the state’s tax revenues and asked Congress leaders to provide a transparent explanation to the people of Telangana to address this economic setback. “Telangana deserves effective governance, responsible fiscal policy and visionary leadership that the current government has failed to achieve,” Harish Rao said.
