Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday (May 6, 2025) accused his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann of “trying to create a difference between the people” for political gain, a continuing standoff between the two states, especially in the moisture stocks.

Mr Seni criticized Mr Mann's position on water sharing at a party at his formal residence in Chandigarh. Mr Seney said: “For a person with a constitutional position, it is wrong to make a controversial comment on not sharing water.

The Chief Minister of Haryana claimed that “Haryana and Punjab are brothers”, claiming that Mr. Mann was trying to create discord. Mr Seni said: “The Mann government should work for the welfare of farmers. They should ensure that they will buy crops at the lowest support price (MSP). However, they did not do so, but instead, the Mann government has resorted to the use of force against farmers.”

He further predicts that the future AAM AADMI Party (AAP) will face major failures in Punjab in the future, similar to the AAP failure in Delhi in February this year. Mr Seni said: “In the near future, the people of Punjab will also ensure the party's complete defeat, and the people of Delhi are removed by the people of Delhi.”

Mr Seni digs on the AAP, accusing the party of failing to commit an election in Punjab. He claimed: “The AAP has promised Rs 1,000 to women, but that promise has not been fulfilled so far. They are just addicted to voting banking politics.”

By contrast, Mr Seni highlighted his government plan in Haryana and noted: “Our Haryana’s twin engine government has committed to providing financial assistance to women under the Lado Laxmi plan and fulfilled this commitment, and we have allocated Rs 5,000 in our budget this year.”
