The Telangana High Court issued a notice of a written petition to the state government on Tuesday seeking instructions for the “cream layer” to make reservations between the scheduled castes and the scheduled tribes.
A seat at the HC hearing directed the state government to submit a counter-appointment within six weeks, explaining the government’s position on the matter. The petitioner K. Ganga, who belongs to the pre-determined caste, believes that her parents are agricultural workers. None of her family is a government employee. Without the cream layer, the children of parents from the SC community have already obtained government jobs and will get twice the opportunity to become government employees. This will deprive candidates of their intended caste, who are eager to get the first government job ever.
